Our first Local Writing For Wellbeing session got off to an uplifting start last Tuesday, with seven most interesting writers in the room.
As Chapter One bookshop is in a museum, workshop leader Lorna took the theme of us as writers, being our own different types of museums, with different specializations and different moods.
Object labels matter a great deal in a museum, and with increasing awareness today, we attend to the story a label tells. Lorna encouraged us to reflect on our own labels, and the stories they tell.
We had a half way poetry pause, where we looked at a couple of poems about museums, or perhaps more specifically, passion in museums:
At The Equestrian Museum by Linda Pastan
and
At The Museum by Helen Hoyt.
Painting by Ranjith Raghupathy: The Night Journey
Thanks to you writers who came along and created, and we loved this feedback: ‘Loved it, utterly engrossing – how did 2 hours go so fast?’
Next session to to be on nature writing.
